Food Diary #1

1040 - Hunger strikes. A little later than normal. I reach for the Belvita Breakfast Biscuits (Milk & Cereal are by far the best flavour!) I remember when these had less than half a shelf in Tesco, and now they have their own shelf with all of the new flavours they keep bringing out. Really great quick hunger fix in the morning when, if you are anything like me, you are too lazy to make a normal, substantial breakfast.

1520 - Still at work. Supposed to take a half day today but a million and one things kept cropping up. Flights to press conferences here, staffing issues there. No time for lunch and I am HUNGRY!

1630 - Finally get home from my 'half day'..ha. One of those wierd times between lunch and dinner, but as I havnt had lunch and dinner is so far away I make beans on toast. With cheese. Lots of cheese. No wonder i am rapidly expanding to the size of a beach ball.

1905 - Gone to Bluewater shopping with the mother. I spy a 'Crussh' smoothie counter and, in need of something refreshing and healthy, I order a Peach Passion. Peach, banana and OJ. I really want to get into making my own smoothies.

2000 - Mother and I are bored of shopping (We have spent all of our money and having no money to spend is boring) so we go for a late dinner at Carluccios. We order bread and dipping oil. My mum goes for a wild boar (??!) ragu pasta, and I go for a roasted pepper, pine nut and goats cheese salad. And add parmesan. Lots of parmesan. I am an actual cheese fiend, it is ridiculous. The salad leaves were really bitter so all in all a bit of a disappointment.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day on the food-front!

Easter!

Hope you have all been enjoying the lovely weather this long bank holiday weekend!

TV land stops for nothing, not even the royal wedding next Friday, so my production manager and I divided this weekend up between us; i had Friday & Saturday off and worked Sunday and today.

Friday night was alcohol fuelled - we ventured to a cocktail bar in Soho for a night of half price cocktails...

I managed to get so drunk that I tumbled to my doom down the escalator at Oxford Circus tube station, completely mutiliating my elbow, although my only concern in this time of crisis was that my bag had gone flying spilling its contents up the escalator and the only words i could utter mid-tumble were 'my vaseliiiiiiiiine!' which clearly goes to show where my priorities lay!!

Thankfully my vaseline (and more importantly my bank card, ID card, phone, rail cards) survived the fall, unlike my poor mangled elbow which was bleeding profusely and probably needed a stitch or two.

Friday was a slightly more demure affair - was meant to go to a BBQ although it got rained off, and Sunday was spent working (albeit surrounded by more chocolate than Willy Wonkas chocolate factory). Came home to a wonderful roast dinner and sadly my boyfriend and I parted ways (on very amicable terms im pleased to say) so now I am coming to terms with the fact that after four years I am now a single lady again.

In the hope of distracting myself from sad feelings, I plan to embark on a health and fitness kick so i will no doubt blog about my progress (of which there will hopefully be lots) with this.

Hope alls well with you lovely ladies

It's okay not to be okay

Jessie J - Who You Are

Currently holed up in bed at half past 9 in the evening with my trusty bottle of Night Nurse.I seem to have accumulated a chest infection, probably from day after day of being squished up to strangers on the tube. Infection central!
So i figured I'd get down to some hardcore blogging. I might waffle on, so brace yourselves!

First up, I wondered if any of you have ever tried hair growth pills? I always see adverts for them on the London Underground, for healthy hair and nails and whatnot, so I wondered if anyone had ever tried them. My hair has been shoulder length for as long as I can remember. Probably doesn't help that I bleach it to within an inch of its life, but it just wont bloody grow!! Despite being given a lovely pair of GHDs for Christmas, I have refrained from straightening my barnet and have instead been blowdrying it and going to work with it in some crazy fluffy au natural state, in the hope a break from intensive heat styling might do it some good. Getting pretty bored of having to clip in hair extensions, and I refuse to go down the route of sew-in extensions again as it was majorly uncomfortable. So yes, to the point, if you have ever tried hair growth pills I would love to know how you got on with them!

Lately I have been feeling pretty image-concious, and not just on the hair front. I'm talking body, hair, teeth, skin. A combination of long days, air con, late nights, lack of sleep, not drinking enough, and eating far too much chocolate has left me feeling a little glum in the body and skin department. Really want to get in tip top physical condition for my holiday, so I need to pull myself together and get down to some exercising!

As for teeth...i havn't got BAD teeth as such. The top row are fine, but on the bottom left row I have one particular offending tooth that is crooked. Shame teeth cant just be manouvered around a bit because it just needs pushing back slightly! Its never really bothered me before, but lately I've been preoccupied with the idea of trying my hand at presenting. Ever since i started my job in the surreal world of TV land I have been asked the question, 'Would you ever consider presenting?' and I've always said no, because in all fairness I have never considered it. Lately, however, after another person in the industry asked me if i worked on screen, I suddenly thought maybe I could do it? But then I thought about how smiley presenters are, and then I thought of my bloody wonky tooth. I got to thinking about veneers (is that how thats spelt?!) a la Cheryl Cole, and did a little bit of research on the trusty interweb and realised that not only do veneers cost an absolute fortune but that like all cosmetic procedures they have risks. So I figure I may just have to learn to put up with my wonky tooth and give this presenting lark a shot regardless!

If and when you are feeling a bit low on the image-front, what do you do to snap yourselves out of it?

Sunday 17 April 2011

Best Sunday EVER!

I was invited to go to Wembley today to watch the Stoke v Bolton match with VIP tickets to the FA Club.

We had a sit down three course meal (amazing steak!) and I was on the pundits table with Jason McAteer, Mark Clemmit, and Jim Rosenthal (you may have seen his son in Friday Night Dinner?!) and my lovely work colleague who invited me.

On the table to my right was Tom Parker from The Wanted, and right opposite me was...wait for it....Declan Donnelly (of Ant and Dec!) Ben Shepherd, Ricky Hatton (Boxer) with, drumroll....PADDY MCGUINESS!

(My colleague Jon with Paddy on the left and Jason McAteer on the right)

I was expecting to see Danny from McFly as he is a massive Bolton fan but sitting directly opposite Paddy McGuiness actually made my day, as I have mentioned before I am a HUGE fan of Take Me Out (No likey, no lighty!!) As luck would have it, Jason McAteer is BFFs with Paddy, so he called him over for a paparazzi session :D

jsjhs;kgjhdkh. Couldn't stop grinning the whole day!

Saturday night at the movies (and a favour)

It's finally the weekend - woohoo!
Been an absolutely hectic week at the studio where i work, broadcasting three major football tournaments - Champions League, Europa League midweek and FA Cup across the weekend, as well as arranging camera crews for shoots to interview Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Arsene Wenger. Very very glad to have a couple of days to recover from the madness!

So lovely ladies...I am requesting a favour. I am in the final stretch of finishing my MA Marketing dissertation on cosmetic companies and their use of marketing communication. I've compiled a very short questionnaire to gauge the trends of men and women aged 18-25 and where/what/why they buy cosmetic product-wise.

If any of you happen to have a spare five minutes at all and feel like participating (it is entirely anonymous) then please email me (hollyelizabeth26@hotmail.com) and i'll send it over to you. I'd be SO so greatful. My deadline is on Tuesday...can't wait to have it over and done with for good!!

Thank you :)

We're all going on a Summer holiday

Sorry for the disappearing act!
I have been making the most of the gorgeous weather and have barely been on the internet at all....except to book my Summer holiday!
I am SO so so excited. I am going back to Tenerife (toyed heavily with the idea of going to Marbella but all of the amazing deals we were looking at kept going up and up in price whilst waiting for my friend to be granted her holiday from work) so we have managed to find a pretty reasonable deal for a 4* hotel in beautiful Los Cristianos, Tenerife.
I've stayed in Los Cristianos twice before, both times at the same hotel so it will be nice to experiment with somewhere new. We are staying in an aparthotel..has anyone stayed in one before? Is it any different to staying in a regular hotel room??

A few reasons why I love Tenerife...

Glorious weather

Enormous Fernando Torres to oggle at!

Hello Kitty heaven

Gorgeous sights

Dolphins!

Where are you off to on your summer hols?

Wednesday 6 April 2011

The sun has got his hat on

Hottest day of the year, woohoo!
Had a very pleasant day at work today; everyone was in a lighthearted mood which made working much more fun, went for pub lunch and a cheeky glass of blackcurrent cider with my boss at lunchtime, ate chocolate brownies in the sun, the elusive Alan Shearer actually spoke for once instead of hiding in the dressing room, and i got to wear something Summery. yay :)
SO bored of winter wardrobe.
I wore...

I have this dress in grey which iv blogged about before but love it in camel. Wore it with tan tights, gold jewellery, and my new River Island bag.
Can't wait for it to be properly Summertime after this taster today!

Monday 4 April 2011

Idiot...

I got my first parking ticket today! :(
Not a happy bunny, as I did infact put a ticket in my window, i just put it in upside down by accident haha. Blonde much?!
£25 pounds worth of expensive mistake. Could have bought something pretty with that money!!

ANNOYING!

Sunday 3 April 2011

Spree!

It's been a while since I have really let loose in a shopping centre, but a trip to Romford with my mum resulted in many a purchase being made!

These are my favourite purchase of the day. I never in a million years thought I would be besotted with a pair of sandals, nor did i think i would ever spend a lot of money on sandals, however i couldn't leave the shop without these in my posession!
River Island - £40

Another River Island number that I could not leave the shop without! I thought this would be perfect for work in the summer as it is very smart yet summery (and would like nice with the above sandals!)
River Island - £39.99

Now I am not much of a bag person but i adore this bag!! Again I thought it would compliment the above outfit nicely!
River Island - £36

I don't get to use my car that much as Im forever at work but when I do get to use it I like it to look pretty and girly. Saw this cute air freshner at the till so thought i'd pick it up!
River Island - £Cant remember price

Cant go wrong with plimsoles for summer
Primark - £3

I never ever normally buy anything like this but was really drawn to this pretty floral skirt. Its high waisted and with a loose fitting floaty top (like the one below) tucked in loosely it would be cute for the summer.
Primark - £8

I figured this plain yet cute scallop detailed top would come in handy for summer
Topshop - £15

I kept seeing these nude bodycon skirts in the shops but they always had a black exposed zip at the back and i just couldnt comprehend it...but managed to find this skirt (originally from Topshop) on Ebay..without the black zip! And at a fraction of the price :)
Ebay - £12

So that is my bank card officially exhausted this month, no more shopping for me until next payday!
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend. I've been working all weekend but have tomorrow off, hurrah! Will be getting my car cleaned, going for a spray tan, and attending Zumba :) Woop!
